Un equipo de investigación ha desarrollado microestructuras hidrofóbicas sobre ánodos de zinc que equilibran la distribución del campo eléctrico y la humectabilidad, inhibiendo el crecimiento de dendritas y las reacciones secundarias inducidas por el agua. Mediante una técnica de fotolitografía y grabado, fabricaron micropilares con alturas controladas que permitieron ajustar el ángulo de contacto entre 100° y 120°, logrando una estabilidad óptima en el ánodo Zn100° durante más de 6000 horas en celdas simétricas. Este avance es relevante para su investigación en sistemas geotérmicos de mina, ya que una mayor durabilidad y eficiencia en baterías de ion zinc podría integrarse en el almacenamiento de energía para edificaciones que utilizan bombas de calor, mejorando la resiliencia y sostenibilidad energética en regiones post-minería.
