Un Nuevo Catalizador de Heteroestructura Optimiza la Conversión de CO₂ en Formiato

Investigadores han desarrollado un catalizador de heteroestructura basado en puntos cuánticos de aleación Ag₃Sn sobre estaño dopado con azufre (Ag₃Sn AQD/S─Sn) para la reducción electroquímica de CO₂ a formiato, un combustible químico valioso. El catalizador logra una eficiencia faradaica del 91.8% para formiato y una densidad de corriente parcial de –226.3 mA cm⁻² en una celda de flujo, manteniendo una operación estable durante más de 60 horas. Este avance en la catálisis de CO₂ es relevante para su investigación en la descarbonización de sistemas energéticos, ya que la producción eficiente de combustibles sintéticos a partir de CO₂ podría integrarse en estrategias de almacenamiento de energía renovable y reducción de emisiones en regiones post-minería.
