Mediante simulaciones de transporte reactivo, los investigadores evaluaron las interacciones químicas de una batería geotérmica en el reservorio carbonatado kárstico de Malm (Cuenca Molásica del Sur de Alemania), comparando la operación convencional con ciclos de carga térmica a 135 °C y descarga a 60 °C utilizando agua termal con inhibición de CO₂. Los resultados demuestran que la inhibición de CO₂ mitiga eficazmente el riesgo de incrustaciones y previene el daño de formación cerca del pozo de almacenamiento, mientras que la disolución de calcita genera incrementos modestos de porosidad en las zonas cercanas a los pozos; en zonas completamente dolomíticas se observaron reducciones menores de porosidad durante la carga térmica. Este hallazgo es directamente aplicable a la protección de la integridad química de tu sistema de geotermia de mina: la estrategia de inhibición de CO₂ ofrece un mecanismo concreto para evitar obstrucciones y pérdida de permeabilidad en los pozos de inyección y extracción, prolongando la vida útil del sistema y asegurando la viabilidad económica del almacenamiento térmico estacional en regiones post-mineras con formaciones carbonatadas.
