A large survey of UK hospitals found that, six months after a major safety warning, most have stopped routinely prescribing long-acting opioid pills for patients going home after day surgery. Researchers discovered that a specific bile acid, called deoxycholic acid (DCA), is found at higher levels in the blood of people with painful hand osteoarthritis.
