Researchers sequenced the complete mitochondrial genomes of nine species from the tribe Coccinellini and conducted a comprehensive phylogenetic analysis with 58 existing mitogenomes. The results confirm the monophyly of Coccinellini, revealing four distinct clades and uncovering novel relationships among genera. This genomic data provides a robust framework for species identification and highlights the need for taxonomic revision within this ecologically important group, which includes key species used in biological pest control.
