Analyzing data from 110 cybersecurity practitioners, the research confirms that organizations not yet attacked tend to have higher levels of cyber resilience, particularly in areas like prevention, education, strategy, and accountability. However, the findings reveal a critical nuance: while resilience is linked to avoiding an attack in the first place, a higher level of established cyber resilience does not necessarily lead to less severe consequences once a breach occurs. This challenges the intuitive assumption that robust defenses automatically mitigate post-incident damage, suggesting that response and recovery capabilities may operate independently from preventative preparedness.
