Analyzing whole-genome sequencing data from nearly 900 cases and over 7,000 controls, researchers identified two distinct loci. In females, a variant at Xq28 was linked to a significantly increased risk (OR 1.69), while in males, a separate variant within the TBL1X gene at Xp22.2 conferred risk (OR 1.48).
